Here’s an easy way to monitor your Social Security benefits

Are you receiving Social Security benefits or at the point in your life where you’re thinking about taking them?

Then you should check out a tool that recently became available. This new tool will allow you to develop a personalized online account during your working years that will allow you to track and monitor your future Social Security benefits.

This new service will also allow the more than 60 million Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income recipients to access their benefit verification letter, payment history, and earnings record instantly using their online account. Social Security beneficiaries also can change their address and start or change direct deposit information online.

The addition of this online service aims to allow individuals to be more informed about Social Security and be more involved in their financial planning. These online services are also very convenient for people with busy schedules who aren’t able to make it to a Social Security office.

Go to: www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount. After providing some pieces of personal information, a username and password are established, creating the account. This account will provide you with secure and convenient access to your Social Security earnings and benefit information, and estimates of future benefits you can use to plan for your retirement.

So create a “my Social Security account.” It’s a great way to stay in tune with your Social Security information whether you are receiving benefits or not.

Best wishes,

George
